Grilled Lamb Burgers

I love food.  I really do.  I just love the whole process of creating something, and having control over what the final result will be, and then eating it.  Often times I’ll get out the tortillas, make a quesadilla, spread some beans on it, a little Tapatio, maybe sour cream and salsa if I’m feeling particularly industrious….and then, voila!  Okay, not quite the chef just yet, but my better half is.  My contribution to our meals: I find the recipes.

A friend of a friend whom I’ve never met, Jody Horton is a food photographer in Austin, TX.  Among other work, he photographs for the blog farm + house + table.  If you’re into great recipes made from wholesome ingredients, I strongly urge you check it out.  And even if you’re not, take a look.  Jody’s images have a very unique quality to them, and inspire me in my pursuit of better imagery; Elizabeth Winslow does most of the writing and cooking (as far as I can tell), and her style is warm, funny, and I always leave a post feeling better than when I started.

Back to the food.  Recently I shared this post with my wife, and we decided to get cracking one beautiful Saturday San Diego afternoon on the Grilled Lamb Burgers.  They did not disappoint…

Too obvious to state, but too important to leave out: For proper grilling, always have a good beverage within arm’s reach.

The end result.  In my haste to get to my burger, I shot this at 1/30th of a second, and only one frame.  I’m sure you know how it goes, so no apology for the sloppy photo is needed?

Another key component of enjoying a good meal: have the kids brush their teeth and get them to bed, even if it’s only 4:30 pm.  Sorry little man….

Oh, and by the way, this is what my little guy had for dinner that night….

Lamb has always been a bit gamey for my taste, but I haven’t tried this kind of recipe for it… yet. Looks delicious. Your beautiful photographs really help. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Indyink! They weren’t gamey at all, and in fact, if anything, I’d say they were very subtle, as opposed to beef or turkey burger.

  3. Um. Great post. I had lamb today for lunch. I looove lamb, but have never attempted to make it myself. I am definitely going to try this. Husband is going to love it too!

Really like this bud, and I like the blog overall. Crisp and clean and we get lot’s of bonus insight into the mind of Bryan. It’s scary, it’s exciting, and it makes me feel alive.
