Marketing a New Business

So I’ve been working on getting my Facebook Fan Page, Twitter, and this blog in order.  And it’s taken more time that I thought it would.  In fact, I’m still struggling with the FB Fan Page, but I remain determined.  And I think it will all be worth it in the long run.  Having started this business almost a year ago, I have relied mainly on word of mouth for new customers.  And from every shoot, I have definitely landed new business via referral (so thank you to those who have sent me new customers!!).  So today I took the advice of my business manager, and I opened up a Yelp business account.  Wanting to get some reviews up there, I’m running a special through July to generate reviews.

Any thoughts on all this?  Anyone, and I do mean anyone……let me know what you think about my current state of affairs (website, Facebook Fan page, Twitter, this blog, what you’ve seen written on bathroom walls, found inside Chinese fortune cookies, whatever!).

Like I’ve said, parts of this blog are going to be an account of my trials and  tribulations….but I can’t really end this post without a photo.  The below was taken at the historic Balboa Park Carousel.  If you haven’t been yet, whether you’re a San Diego native, or will be traveling to our fair city sometime soon, I encourage you to check it out, especially if you have kids.  The ride actually gets moving pretty quickly and while my two 15 month olds were a little freaked out by it, any age up from that should enjoy it.  I think the ride was $2.
